Dreadlord dragon, pendant, dragonhelm, soul render, other tricksters shard
Amazingly enough he survived 3/5 battles, gateway was a bit rough. He did really well, killing the grey seer, slaughtermaster, and caused a lot of headaches.
Death hag bsb banner of swiftness cauldron
No brainier, she was all I needed from her.
Master Pegasus cloak hag greaf, ring of hotek
Very flexible, made up for the lack of lvl 4. Died a lot but he was expendable.
30 spearmen
Good bunker, got a lot of crucial flank charges in, but largely ignored.
2x 5 dark riders
Was good for winning the chaff battles, should give them a musician and one of them rxbows.
12 rxbows
Not all that great as they are very soft in combat and often not enough places to get them into a good firing position. Could probably drop all together
15 rxbows shields and FC
Tended to get the better shooting position and thy did well ended up in combat a few times and managed to hold their own. Definitely my preferred option for them.
2x5 harpies
Awesome don't leave home without them. Initiative 5 means they strike before most stuff and will beat most other chaff units.
5 witch elves
I had some spare points and wanted to see if they could work. They ended up being another cheap diverter I could take or leave them.
20 black guard banner of murder
These guys are gold, initiative 6 and having the 5+ ward on them almost all the time means they were a solid anvil. Wish I could have more ;)
Hydra
Never taken one before and wow they are great. I will have to bring more.
Only thing I want to add is a punchy death hag or assassin just to give a little more hit to the base units.

Clash of the Titans - day 2
So I was on 31/60 after day 1 and feeling ok about it. I was slated to face brettonians today but there was a little swapping and I ended up facing daemons.
Game 4 Richard
Bloodthirster axe khorne, obsidian armour
Skulltaker
Blue scribes
Tzeench herald bsb master of sorcery shadow
30 bloodletters
30 horrors
2x10 flesh hounds
5 furies
This was watchtower with a blood forest being the tower, no one allowed to be in it at the start. You needed a standard in the forest for the bonus points.
I was really worried about the bloodthirster and skulltaker the rest I can deal with.
Both sides had hills in deployment zone and he put both blocks on his hills and the hounds on the flanks.
He took turn 1 and came forward with everyone. Bloodthirster behind the lines. I shuffled and kept him in sight but I didn't want to come up too close to the big boy. Peg master hid behind a rock but was in sight of some hounds. They charged but it was long so I fled out to a corner, this left them open on a flank to my black guard. My dark riders and harpies killed the furies opening the way for the hydra to get into the other flesh hounds. Th black guard killed 6 hounds after pop test. The hydra did about the same but took 3 wounds. H flank charged my black guard with the bloodletters I wasn't worried as I knew they would do well enough and ld10 rerollable when they lose.
I also had a bead on the bloodletters flank with my spearmen and dreadlord. The blood thirster went off to chase my peg master I was happy as it meant the bloodthirster would be so far out of the game I was ok with losing it. My dreadlord failed the charge but the spearmen made it in. I got a miasma off on his bloodletters and I killed the rest of th hounds and all but 3 bloodletters. The hydra killed the rest of the hounds.
Rest of the game involved me getting units into the forest and avoiding the horrors. Harpies ate the blue scribes in the end. I had lost the hydra and the peg rider he lost both hounds and the bloodletters and the harpies. I also held the forest.
16-4 was happy to get out of that with a good win, bloodthirster could have really stomped all over me there.
Game 5 - Chris - Ogres
Slaughtermaster maw 4++ stubborn crown
Butcher lvl 1 beasts
9 ironguts
7 leadbelchers
2x3 bulls
2x4 mournfang
Thundertusk
2x gorgers
Looked pretty net list without the ironblasters. If I could keep the mournfang occupied I could eat the gutstar.
He went first and came forward hard with both units of mournfang.
I went and put the black guard right in front of one unit of mournfang. The other unit I had not other units but diverters in front so I kept away.
He charged the black guard with the gutstar and the mournfang. 5+ ward helps keep the casualties lower I kill one mournfang, this means that the hydra now hits the flank, dragon goes into the face of the gutstar.
Thunder tusk is a pain but I kill the mournfang and a heap of ironguts. I forget about the other tricksters shard and slaughtermaster makes all his 4+ wards. I block the other mournfang with the witch elves.
I keep on munching on his slaughtermaster and kill him over 2 rounds and he breaks. I keep the mournfang away until I can charge them with both the hydra and the dreadlord I clean them up.
I lost a lot of my chaff but they held up the units that needed to be held up.
17 - 3 i had all the right tools to dismantle this sort of army. Loads of things to get in his way and picking the fights
I ended up on 64/100 battle points and was really happy with the games given how risky the army I had taken. I had more fun in a tourney than I have in a long time.

Clash of the Titans day 1
After a relatively short drive in from Scott's place were completely unable to find a Maccas to get some of the breakfast of champions, we rolled into the venue. The school seemed reasonably spacious compared to what I had grown up with. The place was bubbling with a lot of people all keen for a great weekend.
Game 1 - Dave Robertson
After a bit of trash talk we had a grudge of the 2 David Robertsons. We have played twice before and we currently at 1-1 and the has been barely more than 300 points between us over those games.
He had
Orc warboss with 4+ ward
Lvl 4 Orc shaman
Black Orc bsb with armour of destiny
Lvl 2 night goblin shaman
35 orcs with hw/s
30 savage Orc big uns
2 Orc chariots
20 night goblins with nets and 2 fanatics
40 night goblins with nets.
Doom diver
Rock lobber
Mangler squig
6 trolls
1 wolf chariot
5 spider riders
5 boar boys
The first scenario w dawn attack and Dave got to deploy first, of course he rolled his trolls on his left flank and a general on the right flank. Sadly that meant the trolls did nothing all game except wander slowly forward. Hs left flank had 20 gobbos the savages and a chariot and the doom diver. On the right he had his general bsb and shammy in the orcs next to the big gobbo unit with the gobbo shaman. The centre was his chariots and boar boys.
I had harpies and dark riders on my left flank, and I stacked my infantry mostly to the left to face off against his generals unit. I had harpies had dark ridrs on the right flank to try and delay the savages.
I failed to steal turn on so off he went. He pushed pretty hard with everything, he was worried about his manger being stepped on by my harpies but moved well enough to avoid both units. His magic only saw a hand of gork moving the mangler forward still out of range of the harpies but now right in front of my big unit of crossbows. He also tried a foot of gork on the bsb only to find it is T10 against such things with a 3+ ward.
My shooting killed the mangler easily and killed a couple of boar boys. I shuffled a bit bringing the hydra and peg rider up the middle.
He charged both chariots into the peg rider and everyone else up. Chariots killed the peg rider easily and they both got a big overrun into my little crossbow unit. He took the tower with his big unit of gobbos.
I flew my dragon over to threaten the chariots and savage orcs, I pushed the hydra into the building only to have it take 3 wounds from gobbos which I saved none. I just did 3 back to draw the combat not happy with that. I now had the big unit with general and bsb facing my black guard and the savages opposite my dragon.
He failed his charge on the black guard but the savages made a big charge on the dragon. Dragon took a couple of wounds from the savages and I barely killed 3 as I forgot about the other tricksters shard and he made 3/6 6+ ward saves. I lost combat but held.
I pulled the hydra back to hit the savages in the rear next turn and put the black guard into his face so they would be on next turn, also the spearman came to his side for a counterpunch.
He put the chariot into the dragon and the goblins got super animosity to charge the dragon also. Orcs went into the black guard, he also waaaaghed! Black guard held on comfortably. Dragon died after failing to do much damage at all. Dreadlord held easily but it was looking bad for him. He also put 5 spider riders into the hydra who munched them up, I then turned the hydra to face the general and his orcs.
I put the spearmen and hydra into the generals unit they tore it up and I killed the unit plus general and bsb. Sadly my general whiffed and broke from combat and was run down. That pretty muchly end the game. Had both gotten eachothers general but I had cleaned up more of his units giving me a minor win.
In hindsight I should have trusted the charge of the spearmen in the flank to do the job and that the hydra would have saved the general.
Either way 11-9 win and a great fun start.
Game 2 - Guy
I was middle of the field so could expect a reasonable army. When I saw his list I was terrified.
Grey seer on bell
Plague priest on furnace
Bsb on foot
40 slaves
40 stormvermin
40 plague monks
17 censer bearers
6 jezzails
20 clan rats
Hell pit abommination
The game was battle for the pass. I deployed as close as possible, I had to eat the seer as soon as possible. His magic could ruin me very quickly with 13th and plague and wither all at his disposal.
I got first go and moved the dragon and peg rider and hydra up as fast as possible. Crossbows wandered into range. Rest just moved up a little. Harpies screened the dragon as best they could. I did a 5 dice pit of shades that went off irresistably it hit the bell but every made their saves, I lost all my magic levels I was really in trouble now.
His first go was moving up a little, slaves came at the crossbows hard. No one else really moved. He opened magic by withering my harpies, I let it through he then failed to cast plague. I was quite relieved.
I responded by charging the bell with peg rider and dragon. After the first 6 wounds on the seer were saved by his 4+ ward he failed the last 3 from the dreadlord and the seer went down. From there it was a matter of mopping up. The plague priest fell foul of the ring of hotek and got sucked down a hole I took a few turns to eat the stormvermin, the crossbow men shot the furnace away. In the end I took all his toys off the board. Fun game but it was a bit rough on guy as he was just taking things off at the end.
20-0 up
Game 3 - Alex
Things were looking up with a good win there saw me come to meet Alex. Alex was celebrating the end of warriors by taking the most horrible list he could, showing all the reasons why warriors had to get the new book.
Level 4 Tzeentch sorcerer on disk, charmed shield, infernal puppet, talisman of preservation, bloodcurdling roar, third eye of tzeentch
Exalted hero of Slaanesh, steed of slaanesh, biting blade, enchanted shield, dawnstone
Exalted hero of Tzeentch, BSB, great weapon, chaos steed, dragonhelm, collar of khorne, favour of the gods
2x 5 chaos warhounds
2x 5 marauder horsemen, MoS, flails, throwing axes, light armour
23 Warriors of khorne, musician, standard, banner of swiftness
8 Knights of tzeentch, musician, standard, banner of rage
5 Skullcrushers, musician
2x warshrine
I knew that the knights we going to be targeted for the 3++. I was going to have to have the dragon have a big game. I was not optimistic.
Luckily enough he deployed the knights on the other side of the river that rand down the middle of the table. I had to make the river work for me.
He took first turn and came forward slowly with his big units. I lost my scroll on gateway on my lord. I moved a little, getting the dragon in place to come at his knights or disc rider.
He moved his disc rider up close to my lines in sight of the dreadlord and within 12" of the ring. 5 dice gateway brought out no doubles and 3xstr11 hit on my dreadlord removing him immediately. Right then my game was lost. I kept on forcing his knights to take dangerous terrain tests but I had no hope of denting either of his mounted units. Skullcrushers went through my lines and I was left with the spearmen and lvl2.
0-20 I was on the back foot from the start but the gateway made it almost impossible to win. Well I got to farewell the old broken warriors in style

Clash of the Titans preparation
This year seems to be a good time to be in the scene. There are lots of good tourneys being run with interesting comp packs. Clash of the titans caught my eye so I thought it would give it a go. After a few words with Scott it was clear we would both be able to go and give it a shot.
The pack was pretty liberal on what you could bring meaning that there would be some pretty tough armies there, soft comp so that no score for comp just had to adhere to some restrictions. The worst restrictions I could see seemed to be on war machines so I thought this could be taken advantage of. I was still unsure how, at first I thought a double bone giant tomb kings list, or perhaps even the debut of the long awaited great unclean one. I the end I had a I stroke of brilliance and realised that I had never taken a dragon to a tournament. So I dug up my various dragons and the only one that fit an army I still had was the black dragon. Hence the dark elf dragon list was born.

Swedish Sauna Games and Results
Game 1 - Matt
So we'd been paired on Comp so Matt had a 16 comp warriors army.
Wizard lord Heavens, blood tzeench, conjoined homunculus
Bsb
lvl 1 sorc, book secrets shadow
2 x 17 warriors of khorne
1 x 17 warriors of tzeench hw/s
2x 5 hounds
1 x 5 knights
1 Chariot
2 x spawn
10 x nurgle Marauder Horsemen
Heavens really worried me and the fact that if he rushed me I couldn't stop everything.
I was hoping to roll comet to try and use it in the mid ground but no doubles and no comet rolled, he rolled comet and things were afoot.
There was a large hill in the middle of the board and I deployed mostly to the left of it and greatswords on the right. He deployed mostly on the same side, with all 3 characters in the tzeench warriors. Horsemen off on my left threatening to sweep around me.
He took the first turn and advanced cautiously keeping everything outside 24" from the hellblaster except the hounds and spawn. I let him cast chain lightning to kill a few pistoliers but I put everything in to stop the comet. My turn I brought the greatswords up to protect the cannon from the hounds, my shooting/magic killed a few hounds but little else. Next turn he marched up 2 units of halberd warriors and charged the horsemen into my greatswords flank. Greatswords lost a few and killed a few, I turned to face them. However I now had a comet looming over my handgunners right near my cannon and hellblaster which had been icesharded.
With the comet coming I moved people forward a bit to get them away from it. Magic did little and comet kept on descending looking more menacing. Hellblaster rolled the magic 10 10 10 but only hit about 5 times killing about that many warriors. Cannon killed a spawn. Greatswords killed all but one horsemen and they fled, I chased but they escaped, they wouldn't return.
One unit of warriors charged the greatswords but I took the wimpy option and fled. Comet came down and killed the cannon, 9/10 handgunners, 11 halberdiers and the engineer. At this point he was still sitting in the corner with the character bus, knights and chariot.
From there I actually pushed forward hard with the knights and swordsmen as I had to get to his big points to get some points. I charged his knights with my knights who fled, I was 9" away initially and I had the steel standard, I managed to comfortably beat his roll and wiped out his knights, however I was now right next to his block of warriors, sadly I failed to reform after the charge so I was facing the wrong way.
He came forward with the chariot and warriors to face the swordsmen and halberdiers. chariot in front to try and block them. His warriors hit my greatswords and started the slaughter, I held but their fate was sealed.
I charged his chariot with just the swordsmen and faced the warriors with knights. I broke the chariot easily and restrained pursuit. The greatswords died to a man as is appropriate for them.
He chose to face the knights charge, I went in with the knights and swordsmen, I killed his bsb in combat and won by a lot, he broke and I ran him down for the final action of the game.
I'd killed everything except one block of warriors and a chariot, I'd lost the greatswords and the cannon. Ended up giving me 18-2 modified to 19-1
Good start, if he'd been more aggressive I reckon he'd have rolled over me, he just seemed a bit unsure how to get past the shooting.
Game 2 - Hamish (forget pulling comets pull the MOON!)
Orcs and Goblins
Goblin warboss on super big spider
goblin bsb
lvl 3 goblin shaman
lvl 1 goblin shaman
3xgoblin big bosses on wolves
3x40 Night goblins
3xbolt throwers
1x doom diver
2xrock lobber
Lots and lots of stuff that can hurt my knights.
3 blocks all set up to my right, 1 big boss in each block, warboss behind them, bsb in the center.
I set my pistoliers up to be the sacrificial lambs and sucker out all the fanatics. I vanguarded forward and then marched into the insanity. Fanatics came out and killed 3 of them, this lead to the oddest event I have seen, they paniced and fled toward the goblin lines, through the blocks and out the back of the warboss, in one turn I had gone 42".... now that is fast cavalry.
I pulled a comet down toward the 3 bolt throwers, this would come down on turn 6 and kill all 3.
His artillery was doing little to me, doom diver took off a few knights, his blocks all moved up.
I pulled a big comet on his blocks, and moved up for some combo charges. He backed up away from my troops meaning only the knight would have a realistic chance of charging. The comet came down and did a good amount of damage to his blocks and 2 wounds to his warboss, 14 str6 hits on his warboss and he shrugged it off with 6+ 5++, tough bugger.
I charged the knights into his BSB's unit at the center, he fled and I chose to stick at him. He was +2 so had a good chance of getting away, he only rolled a 4 so my 7 was good enough to catch him. This panicked one unit and his warboss off the board. This left him with a lvl 1 and a single block and 2 rock lobbers, from there it was just a mopping up process.
He did frog my lvl4 and stomped on him with goblins but apart from that it was a bit of a thrashing
20-0 22--2 after adjustment
Came down the the knights breaking his line, oddly enough a more shooty capable army than mine so I had to push hard and it paid off.
I was 41/40 after 2 games, I needed a draw at least to had a red hot go.
Game 3 - Nathan
Warriors of Chaos
lvl 4 Heavans
BSB
17 warriors Hw/S
17 Warriors
30ish marauders with flails
30ish marauders with great weapons
10 marauder horsemen with throwing axes
6 Chaos Knights
Chariot
I did not like the looks of this army, my plan was to break through with the knights and swords and try and get what I could.
He got first turn and roared up one flank with the knights, I put the archers in a wood near them presenting their flank to them. The rest of his army came forward at full speed. He got his comet down in the middle of my shooting.
I shuffled a bit to try and face the knights at the marauders.
He kept on coming forward fast, but gave me an opportunity by putting his chariot next to his maruaders. Comet came down and killed the hellblaster and cannon and a heap of handgunners and greatswords. Things were looking grim.
I charged his chariot with the knights and squashed it and overran behind his lines. Everyone else pulled back.
His knights charged my archers in the wood and lost a couple to dangerous terrain. He killed a heap but I was stubbon in the forest so held.
I turned the knights around facing the back of his warriors and great weapon marauders, I pushed the halberds to pressure his other marauders. He killed the last of the archers and faced the swordsmen flank.
He did a combo charge of knights and warriors on the swordsmen with my lvl 4, silly me didn't move him out from the bait unit. He killed a heap but I was steadfast and his warriors were kinda not that hard hitting.
This combat had an interesting side effect, his warrior champion was obliged to challenge and by refusing he had to send my wizard out of combat, this meant I retained my +5 dispel until for 3 more turns.
I charged his marauders with my knights and the other untit with my halberdiers, I broke both and got my halberdiers through his line to safety, my knights ran down the marauders and was set to threaten his other warriors.
Eventually my swordsmen were killed to a man leaving only the wizard to flee to sthe safety of the board edge, he woud rally and get killed on the last turn but not before helping dispel everything he could.
I'd managed to pick up his marauder blocks and lost all my shooting, swordsmen and lvl 4.
8-12 down 12-8 after adjustment
His army was well tuned to beat and army like mine, I just tried to hide as much as possible, I thought it was a good result for me.
As it turned out it was enough and I took out the event, first time since 1999. I had 3 really fun games against 3 fun guys. The comp system meant we all got to see some interestingly different combos. Definately want to do that sort of event again.

There was a little discussion to say that only the soft armies were benefitted, looking at the point spread if you halved the points handicap I still would have won quite comfortably.

Swedish Sauna - 08/12/2012
The Empire Rides to Swedish Sauna
Muppets putting on a different event at the end of the year. 1 dayer made it doable at the pointy end of the year.
Swedish comp struck me as a really great idea, I love the idea of going into the event with eyes wide open in terms of comp.
I wrote everything I wanted in my empire list and I got a comp score of 14, I had a game with it and I got crushed by a 17 scoring high elf army. So I took out my lvl 2, dispel scroll, replaced the halberds with swordsmen, dropped the second cannon and suddenly I had a 17 army.
Army ended up as:
1 General of the Empire @ 192.0 Pts
General; Full Plate Armor; Shield
Dragonhelm [10.0]
Talisman of Preservation [45.0]
Sword of Antiheros [30.0]
1 Wizard Lord of the Celestial Order (Heavens) @ 235.0 Pts
Magic Level 4; Lore of Heavens
Staff of Sorcery [35.0]
1 Master Engineer @ 66.0 Pts
Light Armour
1 Warrior Priest @ 120.0 Pts
Barding; Prayers of Sigmar; Heavy Armour; Shield; Warhorse
Helm of the Skavenslayer [15.0]
Ironcurse Icon [5.0]
Luckstone [5.0]
Biting Blade [10.0]
1 Captain of the Empire @ 141.0 Pts
Full Plate Armor; Battle Standard
Sword of Might [20.0]
Enchanted Shield [5.0]
Dawn Stone [25.0]
30 Halberdiers @ 210.0 Pts
Halberd; Light Armour; Standard; Musician; Sergeant
10 Archers @ 70.0 Pts
Normal Bow
34 Swordsmen @ 331.0 Pts
Light Armour; Shield; Standard; Musician; Duellist
Detachment 7 Crossbowmen @ [63.0] Pts
10 Handgunners @ 120.0 Pts
Empire Handgun
Marksman w Hochland Long Rifle
10 Reiksguard Knights @ 335.0 Pts
Barding; Lance; Full Plate Armor; Shield; Standard; Musician; Warhorse; Reikscaptain
The Steel Standard [35.0]
1 Great Cannon @ 120.0 Pts
20 Greatswords @ 250.0 Pts
Great Weapon; Full Plate Armor; Standard; Musician; Count's Champion
1 Helblaster Volley Gun @ 120.0 Pts
5 Pistoliers @ 90.0 Pts
Brace of Pistols; Light Armour; Warhorse
So After the journey to Burwood to find that parking was a little trickier than I had expected but we found a parking station.

2013 Reboot
Clearly this has not quite come out so well, call it busy lifestyle etc.
Giving it another shot to see how it goes.
