Clash of the Titans - day 2

So I was on 31/60 after day 1 and feeling ok about it. I was slated to face brettonians today but there was a little swapping and I ended up facing daemons.

Game 4 Richard

Bloodthirster axe khorne, obsidian armour
Skulltaker
Blue scribes
Tzeench herald bsb master of sorcery shadow

30 bloodletters
30 horrors
2x10 flesh hounds
5 furies

This was watchtower with a blood forest being the tower, no one allowed to be in it at the start. You needed a standard in the forest for the bonus points.

I was really worried about the bloodthirster and skulltaker the rest I can deal with.

Both sides had hills in deployment zone and he put both blocks on his hills and the hounds on the flanks.

He took turn 1 and came forward with everyone. Bloodthirster behind the lines. I shuffled and kept him in sight but I didn't want to come up too close to the big boy. Peg master hid behind a rock but was in sight of some hounds. They charged but it was long so I fled out to a corner, this left them open on a flank to my black guard. My dark riders and harpies killed the furies opening the way for the hydra to get into the other flesh hounds. Th black guard killed 6 hounds after pop test. The hydra did about the same but took 3 wounds. H flank charged my black guard with the bloodletters I wasn't worried as I knew they would do well enough and ld10 rerollable when they lose.

I also had a bead on the bloodletters flank with my spearmen and dreadlord. The blood thirster went off to chase my peg master I was happy as it meant the bloodthirster would be so far out of the game I was ok with losing it. My dreadlord failed the charge but the spearmen made it in. I got a miasma off on his bloodletters and I killed the rest of th hounds and all but 3 bloodletters. The hydra killed the rest of the hounds.

Rest of the game involved me getting units into the forest and avoiding the horrors. Harpies ate the blue scribes in the end. I had lost the hydra and the peg rider he lost both hounds and the bloodletters and the harpies. I also held the forest.

16-4 was happy to get out of that with a good win, bloodthirster could have really stomped all over me there.

Game 5 - Chris - Ogres

Slaughtermaster maw 4++ stubborn crown
Butcher lvl 1 beasts

9 ironguts
7 leadbelchers
2x3 bulls
2x4 mournfang
Thundertusk
2x gorgers

Looked pretty net list without the ironblasters. If I could keep the mournfang occupied I could eat the gutstar.

He went first and came forward hard with both units of mournfang.
I went and put the black guard right in front of one unit of mournfang. The other unit I had not other units but diverters in front so I kept away.

He charged the black guard with the gutstar and the mournfang. 5+ ward helps keep the casualties lower I kill one mournfang, this means that the hydra now hits the flank, dragon goes into the face of the gutstar.

Thunder tusk is a pain but I kill the mournfang and a heap of ironguts. I forget about the other tricksters shard and slaughtermaster makes all his 4+ wards. I block the other mournfang with the witch elves.

I keep on munching on his slaughtermaster and kill him over 2 rounds and he breaks. I keep the mournfang away until I can charge them with both the hydra and the dreadlord I clean them up.

I lost a lot of my chaff but they held up the units that needed to be held up.

17 - 3 i had all the right tools to dismantle this sort of army. Loads of things to get in his way and picking the fights

I ended up on 64/100 battle points and was really happy with the games given how risky the army I had taken. I had more fun in a tourney than I have in a long time.
